Planting – in November the super bulb was planted by itself in an ordinary brown plastic plant pot.
The first rescue – a gale blew the pot across the patio. It landed on its side, half emptying the compost. It was replanted in a very old but ornamental clay pot.
The second rescue – the pot was knocked over accidentally. It broke in two, but the soil remained firmly in place. It was replanted in the pink pot, as the picture shows.
The temptation – as time went on and I planned the pot planting for the summer, I realised I wanted the pot the bulb was in. I am so glad that I never gave up with that tulip. The reason was that my son had given it to me as a present and I was determined that he would receive the promised photograph if it flowered.
