Step Two weekend: Dorchester: 21st - 23rd February 2020
We held our latest Step Two weekend in Dorchester from 21st - 23rd February 2020. The course, which was very well organised by Dave and Catherine Cresswell from Dorchester Family Church, was led by John and Merle Sparkes and supported by Andy Dollery and Julie Gorton, who travelled from Halesworth for the weekend. We met in the excellent facilities at Dorchester Community Church. The weekend was well attended by people from the local area, with the majority who had attended the Step One course in October returning to do Step Two.

There was a very supportive atmosphere on the weekend which enabled those present to share at depth and gain a clearer understanding of themselves. One comment received in response to the question 'Which part of the course did you find most enjoyable?' was 'The meaningful fellowship it provoked in us all'.

During the weekend we explored the power of how we feel about ourselves and John asked if we agreed with the statement, 'How we feel about ourselves is, next to God himself, the biggest single influence in our lives'. We thought about the powerful effects nature, nurture and choices have had on our lives to date and how we can 'clear the rubbish' of residual emotions from the past in order to live freely in all of who God created us to be. It was an excellent weekend and one which helped each one who attended to understand themselves and others better and to deepen their relationship with the Lord. Step Three is eagerly anticipated!

Some comments on the weekend -
  • 'Another enlightening experience - finding out more about myself and how it affects my daily life. I feel glad to have more tools to 'find my best self' for the future.'
  • 'Surprised by how much I am re-evaluating my responses to various situations. I am loved! I am OK! I am 10/10!'
  • 'Very informative and revelational. Definitely looking forward to Step Three. Really eye-opening stuff.'
  • 'Very intense and deep - touched on things that I didn't expect, feelings and how I view myself - enjoyed it very much.'
  • 'Very enjoyable and insightful weekend. I have learned much about my wife and myself. Thank you.'
  • 'I found the course challenging but very encouraging and have been really blessed. Thank you.'
  • 'I was sceptical when I first heard about the course as aged 70+, but I was so wrong. It is never too late to learn!'
