​Psalm 18 reveals David's love for God and his desire to serve Him. We will go through times in our lives when we feel hard-pressed. When David experienced this he turned to God and was brought to a spacious place. David gave God his rightful place and in return discovered himself.

Tim revisits Psalm 5 and we read 2 Samuel 12 to give the context to David's writing. David took discipline from God for his wrongdoing and he gives us insight into what pleases God. We must have the strength and resolve that David had.

A visit to Acts encourages us as we see Luke recording Peter's words. Peter refers to Joel and to David's Psalm 16, and David talks about Jesus. All of these men used who they were to serve God. We must be prepared to do the same. ​

​Do you struggle to sleep? Is it hard to switch off at night? Many of us will replay the events of the day in our minds as we try to rest. David was on the run fearing for his life. His response was to express his deepest feelings to God morning and night and this gave him peace. It's not just a cry for help in desperate times, it's an essential reliance on God's mercy day by day.

We appreciate people who say what they mean and mean what they say. It's not about being offensive but sincere. We don't want to say one thing and think something else. Jesus's disciples were all over the place after the Resurrection but over time they settled issues and became single-minded and at peace. How does this process work for us?

Jesus was 100% consistent throughout His life and death because He knew what He was called to do. When we look at the Bible we discover a revelation of God - Jesus came to show us God's heart and to give us a way back to Him. As we study Luke's gospel we discover that we can see things differently and can begin to live like Him.

Jesus was in anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was about to take on the sin of the world and experience separation from his Father. He went beyond the physical as he prayed and he encouraged the disciples to do the same. Tim stresses that we must mature beyond our normal human responses in order to do God's will.
