We are continuing to develop the section on our site dedicated to understanding children and family life. Some time ago Merle was asked to pass on the most important things she has come to appreciate as a mother of six children and midwife by profession. Working with other mums in the church she is developing this section to share some of those thoughts to help others as they start, or continue to enjoy, their own family.
Starting with expectant parents, family issues bring joy but also challenges and we hope you will find these articles and book recommendations helpful. Each child is different, not just in their physical appearance, interests and abilities, but in the way they view life. It's important to get to know your child as an individual, who they really are, in order to help them develop their potential. We have written an Understanding Children course which will help with this - see below for details.
Please feel free to add your comments and experiences to our contact page.
Understanding Children course notes - 'It has been said, 'Aim at nothing and that is what you will get.' Children don't bring themselves up. We know that if we neglect a young child physically, he would die - but it is all too easy to not really be sufficiently aware of our child's emotional and spiritual needs.' The Understanding Children course is a practical course which helps you to identify your child's temperaments and which offers helpful practical suggestions on bringing up children.
